CHEW offers two levels of financial assistance through our Compassion Fund. Before applying, please review the options below to determine which application best fits your pet's medical needs.

To apply for the Compassion Fund, you must have an estimate from CHEW to upload.

Compassion Fund    Medical care up to $300

This application is designed for pets needing smaller amounts of assistance, such as: Diagnostics, medications, minor treatments and other non-major medical needs.  Applications are reviewed as quickly as possible when all required documentation has been submitted.

Expanded Compassion Fund    Major medical cases

This application is intended for pets requiring more extensive treatment, such as: hospitalization, surgery, emergency procedures, advanced diagnostics and oher significant medical expenses. Because these requests involve substantially larger grants, a more comprehensive financial review is required.

To be considered, you must upload required document requested on the application. Applications with missing documentation will not be reviewed.

We understand that financial hardship looks different for every family. Owning a home, renting an apartment, driving a vehicle, or having other assets does not automatically disqualify you from receiving assistance. However, our committee can only make decisions using the documentation you provide. If your application indicates financial hardship but required financial documents are missing, incomplete, altered, or intentionally omitted, we cannot accurately evaluate your request. We do not make funding decisions based solely on statements made in the application. Providing complete documentation allows us to fairly review every applicant and ensures our limited charitable funds are distributed to the families who need them most.  Incomplete applications may be placed on hold, returned for additional information, or denied until all required documentation has been received.

Thank you for helping us make this process fair for every family seeking assistance through the CHEW Compassion Fund.

Please Read Before Applying:

Financial assistance is awarded based on financial need, every application is reviewed individually.

A Photo Helps Tell Your Story

While a photo is not required to be considered for the Compassion Fund, we strongly encourage you to upload one. The CHEW Compassion Fund exists because of the generosity of our donors. When we seek support for this program, we often share the stories of the pets and families we have helped.  A meaningful photo helps demonstrate the impact these donations make.

You do not need to be a professional photographer. We simply ask that you choose a photo that reflects the bond between you and your pet. While a photo of your pet alone is perfectly acceptable, a picture of you with your pet is even more meaningful. It helps tell the story of the love, companionship, and connection you share. When our donors see the real families and pets whose lives they are helping, it reminds them why the Compassion Fund matters. Those stories inspire continued giving, allowing CHEW to help more pets and families in the future.

By taking a few extra moments to upload a thoughtful photo, you can help ensure this program continues to grow and provide assistance to others facing difficult circumstances.
